Default Michelin Pilot Sport, Yoko AVS Sport, or Bridgestone S-03.. What would you do?

I currently have the relatively crappy Pirelli P6000s that came with my A4 w/ celebration. (225/45/17)

The three tires in the subject of this post are what I'm considering for replacement. Pricing for my size is basically identical between the 3. I'm leaning a little toward the S-03s after reading some reviews at tirerack.

Which would you guys go with, and a little explanation as to why?

Thanks!

I am planning for Bridgestone S-03 for my A4. I think it is considered the best in wet and one of the best in dry.

Default I got the Pilot Sports because I got a great deal on a new set on ebay. But if I were to

pay full price for the tires, I'd probably buy the S03's.

Default I got the Pilot Sports and paid almost full price for them...

... the tires are great with lots of grip in the dry and wet, very smooth but the V shaped tread design is bit more noisy than the stock Dunlop SP8000e that I replaced. If I were to buy another set of tires right now, I'd probably go with the Dunlop SP9000. As for the tires in your list, I'd go with the Bridgestone S-03... I'm just not a fan of Bridgestone myself, but thats just me. The S-03 is a great tire.

Default Extremely pleased with the S-03 ...

...

especially now that Winter is about finished. Though it snowed a bit today, I'll have them back on in about 2 weeks.

The link is to my comparison of the S-03 and the original Dunlop SP8000.

S-03 vs SP8000

Default S-03....

I've got a similar dilemma on my hands, except that I am debating on S-03 vs SP9000.

As you noticed yourself, price is not really an issue - they're all about as expensive.

Given that, I found that the S-03s have the best reviews out of all the tires that you are considering. Basically, the best dry and wet performance you can buy.

The reason why I was considering SP9000 is that it is supposed to be very quiet and also last the longest. On the other hand, I don't want to compromise on dry/wet performance, so I'm currently leaning towards the S-03. However, I have heard that the S-03 is quite heavy, whereas the SP9000 is one of the lightest tires out there. The P6000s which you are replacing are also pretty light. The tire weight is actually even more important than rim weight since the tire is located further away from the center of the wheel.

Another thing about the S-03 which I like is that they are very wide. The 225 is as wide as 235 of some other brands. That's gotta look good ;-)

Default Thanks for the replies everyone...

Sounds like we're in agreement. S-03 is just a great tire, wet & dry! I had originally wanted the Michelin Pilot Sports until I ran across the S-03s. Seems like the S-03s offer a greater advantage in the wet, and are at least as good on the dry. While it is a heavy tire, I'm not too concerned about that as I'm already wearing my heavy celebration 17" wheels. If I need a track setup I'd get some slicks and another set of wheels. If I want more street power, I'll just chip! :-)

Do you know how much the S-03's and SP9000's weigh?
