Tire wall question 17/8's with 225/35/17s have same size tire wall as 215/40/17s?
17/8"s with 225/35/17s or 215/40/17s how much diffrence in side wall?

Tire Math 101, Lesson 1: .....
Here's how S4M got the result:
Sidewall height of 215/40 tire = 215 x 0.40 = 86mm
Sidewall height of 225/35 tire = 225 x 0.35 = 78.75mm
Therefore, sidewall of a 215/40 tire is 7.25mm taller (86 - 78.75). The whole wheel is therefore 14.5mm taller (two sidewalls).
If you want it in inches, divide mm by 25.4.
