Khumo Ecsta 712 Brief Ramble
I ran Bridgestone RE730's in 17x7.5 size on my 99.5 1.8t Avant from about 4k to 19k miles. I replaced the RE730's with Kuhmo Ecsta 712's at about 19k miles. I now have about 22.5k on the ODO.
One thing I can say about the Kuhmo's, they are certainly much quieter than my old RE730's which were downright loud by comparison. Recently I switched from running about 36 psi in the Khumo's to 39 psi and what a difference that made in terms of handling! Yes, the ride is a bit bumpier but it's worth it. At 36 psi there was too much flex in the sidewall during hard cornering. I'm also getting slightly better fuel economy with the extra pressure.
Anyway, I'm happy with overall performance of these tires for the money. They do well in the wet and dry and are just fine for the enthusiast who wants an entry level performance tire.
Best,
-Adam
