Buying tires for my A6 4.2
My choices: Michelin Pilot Sport (good looking)
Bridgestone S-03 (nice results on tirerack.com)
My dealer choices: Dunlop SP 6000 (OEM tire)
Continental (OEM tire)
My local tire shop: Bridgestone S-03 (will not last long)
Pirelli Asimmetrico (very smooth and silent)
So what should I choose, now I really need some new soon. Who should I thrust? And what should I choose?

Don't agree with your dealer's perspective that S-03s won't last long...
I had mine for about 6k miles, and they look brand new. I'm expecting to get between 25 and 30k miles out of them. And they are the nicest tires I've ever had. They are quiet, grip like crazy, and have no noticeable degredation in performance in the rain.

I'd get the S03's. 2000 miles on mine so far, and they are the best tires I've ever owned. They may not last as long as some of the others out there (we'll see), but that's the breaks for owning a max-performance tire. The tradeoff is that you get great grip for the life of tire.

most performance summer tires last about the same number of miles...
I wouldn't base my decision on the treadwear rating too much.
If you want a very smooth and silent tire, look into Dunlop SP9000. Otherwise, I'd go for S-03s - lot's of dry grip, outstanding wet grip, relatively quiet and comfortable.
