Default Auto-x/Track R-Compound tire questions

Ok, I've settled on wheels, but still workin on tires. The wheels are 17x8. On my similarly sized street wheels, I run 225/45/17. What size should I run for competition? Same size? 235/40/17? Help me, im confused. 235s are about as wide as I can fit I think, considering im dropped 2" all around.

Ill be ordering from tirerack, so, given the choices (depending on size) between the Kumho Ecsta V700, Victoracer V700, or the Yokohoma AO32, whats the best? I need decent wet traction in addition to dry because we run rain or shine, and I don't want to change my tires from run to run if it sprinkles a bit. TIA all.

Default Offset?

You could run 245's on 8's, hell 265's would fit on the rim. But your clearance is at issue. With a 2" drop you may be looking at some spacers.

The 032 is a weak, weak tire. Kumhos sound more reasonable if they have a good size. What car are you running?

Default Car is:

97 A4 1.8TQ, APR SII, Bilstein Sport/Neuspeed Race, Stoptechs, with more to come as I go along. Im thinking 245s might rub, but im not sure. I haven't had an clearance/rubbing issues on the street, and didn't have any when I ran my street set up at the last auto-x, but those tires are 225.

Default AO32R, 235/40-17 on 17x8 OZ Crono

They wear a lot better than the Kumho. I've seen guys with A4s go throught Kumhos in two weekends. My AO32Rs have lasted 6 weekend driving events... and I am HARD on tires at the track.

My A4 has Eurosport/Eibach springs, Bilstein shocks, Stoptechs, Neuspeed 19mm rear sway, Neuspeed front subframe brace. Never had any issue with rubbing.

Hope that helps,

Default I have been very happy with them...

Great grip, very good feedback... good wet traction. I have a few more pictures from a driving event this weekend that I am about to post to... I'll put a few in my Picture Poster, but I think I'll put them all in Yahoo Photos.

This picture shows an AO32R that has been through 6 weekends of driving events and still going strong.

Default click on tire "specs" to get a good idea, race tires are wider than street tires even if they are of

same size label

Default Re: Auto-x/Track R-Compound tire questions

The A032s are more suited for wet track and ROAD RACING.

If you want a combination auto-x/track day tire, then run the Kumhos. Call me & I can give you more info on the differences of them if you want to discuss.

More info on the Kumhos:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/kumho/ku_v700.jsp</a
