Default Have stock RE040's, anything I can get that will reduce the horrible tramlining?

For summer I am running the stock Bridgestone RE040's. I just moved to MA this past October and almost right away put some winter tires on (which were AWESOME choices btw. Thanks to Luke @ Tirerack!). I never noticed a problem with the Bridgestones in Tampa, FL but after I took the winter tires off up here and slapped the stock ones back on, I was horrified! My first trip down Route 2 with the summer tires and I thought I was going to drive straight into the ditch! The tramlining with these is atrocious, so much so that I now dread the 45 minute drive to work which I used to enjoy and look forward to winter just so I can put my winter tires back on. Is there anything I can get in the stock tire size that will tramline less without greatly sacrificing performance? I was considering the SP-03's.. Any suggestions?

Should I be looking at a different rim/tire size if I really want to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Default some suggestions...

1. Increase air pressure in your RE040s, if you haven't already. This will slightly decrease the contact patch and may also increase fuel economy.

2. Try buying tires that do not have a continuous strip of rubber going all the way round. Not sure if RE040s have it or not.

3. As far as I know, once you get into 225-width, most (if not all) summer tires tramline a bit. My S-03s tramline, but only at very low speeds. Once I go above 30 mph, there's no problem, but just to be on the safe side, I always keep a firm grip on the steering wheel.

4. If all else fails, buy some cheap all-season rubber. With the limited grip they have, the tramlining will be less pronounced as well ;-)

The first paragraph of this article explains it pretty well:

http://www.autospeed.com/A_0879/page1.html</a

Default What kind of tire pressure do you suggest?

I run 37lbs cold in my 225/45s and it still tramlines at speeds under 30mph

I run 39F/37R.

I don't know why, but I don't notice my car tramline any more. I only noticed it the first 500-1000 miles or so. Either I got used to it or it went away. Weird.
