Falken GR Beta FK-451 vs. Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 vs. Sumitomo HTR Z II vs. Fuzion ZRi. All 245/40/17.

One of these choices will be going on my 1992 S4 quattro (large, 3,800 pound car) which will be getting H&R/Koni suspension. I may see a track day or two, and will see spirited driving ~30% of the time. These are dedicated summer tires, since I have another set of winter tires/wheels.

Falken's are 119.

My budget is ~$100 per tire, and I'm looking for "Ultra High Performance Summer" tires with high speed rating. Any other suggestions?

those falkens are actually pretty good, the kumhos well theyare hard as ****

and last forever, my friend has the sumitomos not a bad tire either for the money.

stay away from the Kumho, they suck. I've heard good things about Fuzions

they are supposed to be made by bridgestone. I thought of getting them for my boleros. I've heard they are a good tire, for the money. Why 225/45? I was going to do 245/40, comes out to be an almost exact match for the OD compared to the 16" wheels.

I posted a similar question for the Coupe a few days ago.

Lots of votes for the Falken Zien ZE-512's.
Oddly enough I just bought a set for the MX-5 per the Miata forum recommendation (I am a mega noob over there). After a trip to emissions and two coffee runs (total 110 mi), they are holding up excellently!

The only difference between my needs and yours is that the Coupe will not see the track.
