Tire size for '98 A4 - 235/45/17

Tire size for '98 A4 - 235/45/17

I know the correct tire size for a 98 1.8TQ is 225/45/17. Is there a problem with using 17" wheels and tires from a '04 A4. I know the wheels are OK but the tires that are on the wheels that I am looking at are 235/45/17. Should I replace these with 225/24/17?

Check the clearance when you bolt them on. There is a chance that they'll rub on the inside front suspension with 235/45R17.

Yup - mine rubbed a little. 225/45/17 works great, though.

I put my B6 17" with 235/45/17 conti on my girl friend's B5, it rubbed a little bit on the inside. I hope it's not a big issue.
