Default I'm sorry. Did my question say, "jerk-off, is there a difference between forged and cast"?

I was asking Gary, not Cameron.

No effect. Tires make the difference in this case.

Default If you only want Gary to answer...

...you should call or email him directly. When you post in an open forum, you will get replies you don't want.

Default Disregarding the unwarranted flaming, why is that such a "dumb" question? ...

Despite the fact that the impact on ride feel is likely quite small, why is it so dumb to consider that the composition of the wheel might contribute to the general ride of the car? Structural material for any unsprung component in a vehicle's supension system has an inflated effect. From the perspective of motorcycle and bicycle wheels, composition is critical with respect to torsional strength, rebound feel through handlebars and initial turn-in response - quite apart from the tire selection. In auto racing, the material, size and width characteristics of wheels are very tightly regulated for the reason that even slight changes in those factors have measurable impact on lap times.

Granted, a slight variation in tire pressure probably swamps out any contribution that wheel construction material contributes to road feel, but IMHO let's not dismiss a question out of hand...

Best wishes to all
Eric

Default Not enough info. A beefy-*** forged wheel might be heavier than a flimsy cast one

especially if the forged one is multi-piece and the cast one is not.

Seems like the weight would be more relevant than construction method.

Default Thank you. It's good to know there are a few people who, if they have an answer or are theorizing...

as to why something might be so, they are not rude or dismissive.
