Default Falken ST115 vs. Yoko ES100?

I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to these two for my new 17x8 OZ SL rims. The ES100 has a treadwear of 280 vs. 360 for the ST115. Does the ES100 have significantly better stick, or is it much quieter while cornering (for stealth). The longer treadwear of the ST115 would otherwise be a big plus for me. I also need to consider wet performance. Anyone have any problems with either tire?

I also need to choose a size. Would prefer 255/40-17 due to close-to-stock (UrS6) diameter, but most mfgs recommend an 8.5" rim for 255s, so I may have to go with 245s. I haven't been able to find any dimensional specs for Falken.

Default can't answer your questions but

I just orderd ST-115 235-40-18's Z rated REIN B tires. I expect good things: performance, quietness, and durability.

Default I've had both. I'm on my third or fourth set of ES100s. I sold the Falkens after two weeks.

The Falkens are great if you want a soft, quiet, luxurious ride. If you want performance they blow. The sidewalls are soft and the rubber gets greasy VERY fast when pushed. The ES100s are a much better performer, but aren't as comforable.

Default Thanks, I did end up going with the ES100.

The Falkens weren't in stock at the same location as the wheels, and I was given a price break on the ES100, so they ened up being a bit cheaper, and I'll have them sooner. I'd read that the ES100 were noisy and wear fast, but if the performance is that much better, I'll be happier with those anyway.

Default What you read is true...

...but compared to other tires with similar performance they do NOT wear that fast. Of course grippy tires will wear fast, right?
Those are two very different tires.

Default Small world category: I have a 95.5 UrS6 Avant w/17x8 OZ Sls

and Falken ST115s. Happy with the Falkens, for the price. Quiet, decent grip. Neighbor has ES100s on his old Porsche. He's not happy with the noise.
