Help, I am losing my mind picking quiet tires...
I have tried to use Tire-rack's resources to satisfy my concerns but it seems every tire I consider has good and bad reviews on the points that I am most concerned about.
I am looking for a quiet tire that has a rim protector and good treadlife. 225/40/18. No snow performance needed, but so far treadlife and quietness seems to lead me to A/S. Flexible in price range if value is there.
Going by tire-rack info, so far the Avon Tech M550's seem to be the best but there is next to no reviews on them (new model). I would otherwise be happy to get the Pzero Nero's which have excellent ratings in my criteria but they do not have rim protection, which is very important based on my experience (I think others would agree). Yokohama's seem to have noise complaints, particularly with our cars. It also seems that the stance of our cars encourages cupping/etc. with many low-pro's (particularly falken's)? I forget where I came across that, but whatever, anyways...
Has anyone experienced long-term, profound quietness on their 18's? I should be in complete disregard of reports from less than 10,000 miles of use, I think.
TIA
