Winter tire question for Gary
I have 18" summer performance 225/40/18 on there corrently, but also have a 17" set of factory rims with 225/45/17.
I had 255/40/17 Dunlop M3 on my S6 last year and was quite happy.
Should I:
Keep my 17" rims and use 225/45/17 Dunlops
or
205/50/17
or
Buy a set of 16" rims with the 205/215 Dunlops
or is there a better tire recommendation this year.
If one takes pricing into consideration, then there isn't much difference (about $100 for the four) between 17" on my rims and the 16" mounted on cheap alloys, so it's a toss up pricewise)
You've always given good advice in the past.....
Any price advantages to buying now rather than in October?
Unfortunately we do not reduce the price of winter products during the summer. In fact, we usually have better deals on wheels, tires, or both nearer to winter season as we make large bulk purchases that bring the average costs down. Also better/newer products are often released at the beginning of each winter season. For these reasons I recommend that customers hold off on winter tire purchases/research for the US market until around early September when more information becomes available.
