Default RS4 DTM wheels (?)

Hi, this is my first day/posting at audiworld! Please be generous to my lack of knowledge and experience

I own a silver 2001 Audi A6 2.8 fwd (picture to come later). It came with 16'' stock wheels, and I want to upgrade it to 18'' RS4 DTM wheels. I did some searching and found these two replica wheels: one from hartmann and the other from lakeshorewheels.

http://www.hartmannwheels.com/site/audi.php
(RS4 DTM)
http://www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com/specials/audi.shtml#18inch
(S-Concept SO1)

Hartmann wheels were pricy ($260 per piece), and actually want to get new/used tires mounted on the wheels before buying to reduce total cost.

Do any of you guys have experience with these RS4 DTM replica wheels or have any suggestion on where to buy them (+costs) and if my car would have any problem with breaking/steering/weight issues with the 18'' wheel? Also, if I what is the average cost of mounting tires and aligning wheels respectively?

Thanks!

Default I know someone with the Hartmann reps and they are very nice.

Good quality and finish to them. Never seen the lakeshore ones, so can't comment on them.

I wouldn't think you'll have 'problems' with braking, steering, weight, but there will be a difference in weight, so might be a little harder on brakse, a little less acceleration etc.

But a lower profile tire on a larger rim will also change your steering a bit - the shorter sidewall (depending on the tire you choose) should provide better steering response.

Default I have the Hartmann 18" DTM RS4 wheels on my 2001 S4 and love them.

Good quality, and Hartmann is a pleasure to deal with. There are no problems with braking or steering or anything else (why would there be?). The ride will get a little rougher going from 16" to low-profile 18", but feel for the road and your turning ability should improve a little not to mention the better cosmetic look of the car.

Will you be lowering the car with coilover suspension to reduce wheel gap?

I would love to lower my car with coilover suspension, but to tell you the truth I am a student and don't have a big budget to mod my car to that extent right now.

I looked at H&R and Koni coilovers, but do you have any recommendation for good/not-too-expensive coilver suspension? Also, do you still have your stock S4 wheels?

Thanks!

Default My suspension is Stasis Streetsports (Koni coilovers), which were about $950 when I bought 'em IIRC.

I actually had two sets of OEM B5 S4 wheels but sold both of them when I upgraded to 18" DTM RS4 wheels for the summer and 18" S8 Avus wheels for the winter. Sorry. But there are always a few sets floating around out there for sale, just keep checking the AW classifieds.
