What effect does load rating have on ride or handling, if any?

What effect does load rating have on ride or handling, if any?
The reason I ask is that the 225/45/17 GSD3's come in both a 94 and 91 load rating. Would the higher load rating = stiffer sidewall = harsher ride?

We have found no difference in handling or ride between the two load ratings. The 94 load is suggested for the S4, but many have run the 91 load tires with no problems.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=/tires/index.jsp">Tires</a></li></ul>
