Upgraded to 18''... now what to do with 16'' wheel+tire?

I'm considering to keep the set of 9-spoke OEM 16'' wheels+tires that came off my 01 A6 2.8 for awhile (shown in the pix).
I searched for how to package/preserve wheels+tires, but couldn't find any good instruction or pictures.
1) If I were to preserve the set of old wheels(with old tires mounted on) for at least six month, should I clean the brake dust, wheel, tires, and et cetera and wrap it around with plastic bag or tapes?
2) If I were to sell and ship these set, how should I package them? Cover the wheels with thick board, wrap the whole tire/wheel with clear wrap, and tape the whole thing around?
I live in an apartment without a garage, so I'm looking to preserve it in the corner of the living room or even a closet without leaving huge black mark on the wall. I also want to package it so that I don't have to repackage it if I were to sell them online.
