Default TireRack Canada shipping policy change?

I am told that TireRack now handles brokerage via UPS as part of the shipping fee, and that only tax and duty are to be paid by the recipient. Previously we were on the hook for the exorbitant UPS brokerage tax. Is this a new change in policy, or is this only when using expedited super-expensive shipping?

Default Yes. We've updated our shipping program for Canada.

We've implemented a new shipping program for all UPS Canada shipments, designed to streamline the delivery process.

Under this new program, Tire Rack collects all Canadian Taxes, Duties, Tire Fees and Brokerage Charges on behalf of the applicable Canadian Government agencies. This means that no additional taxes, duties, or fees will be collected by UPS Canada upon delivery of the order.

Delivery is now easier, and no longer requires the customer be at the delivery address to pay the COD taxes and fees.

Also, in most cases, the Brokerage Fees collected by us will be somewhat less than what they were under the old COD program, which may reduce the total order cost somewhat. Of course, the taxes, duties and tire fees collected on behalf of the applicable Canadian Government agency are unchanged.

We feel this new program will simplify the delivery process, and in most cases reduce the total cost of the order.

Tirerack.com

Default Fantastic, thanks!

Unfortunately I found out one day too late to cancel my Canadian supplier order Ironically I could probably send the tires back, pay shipping and restock fees, and still save money with you guys! Argh. Next time for sure.
