Default Why separate wheels for winter tires?

After almost two years of being without an Audi, I picked up my new A4 2.0T quattro yesterday. It was tempting to sleep in the car last night. :-)

Anyway, I'm a firm believer in snow tires for the winter season around here (South Bend, Indiana).

My question is: is there a compelling reason one should purchase wheels to go along with the tires? I know it makes installation a lot easier in the winter and spring, but are there any other reasons? I like the Audi wheels on the vehicle and would prefer to use them year round unless there's some reason I shouldn't.

Thanks in advance. Gary@TireRack, you can count on an order and visit before Thanksgiving. :-)

Default mounting/dismounting twice a year will take its toll on the wheels

not to mention the money you're going to spend (around $80-$100)for every mount/dismount

Default LikeRob4.2's post states, the mount and dismout fees alone each year

may come close to the cost of wheels. Add to that the convenience of being able to bolt the wheels on anytime you'd like without having to wait at a shop each season as well.
