Gary--Tire Fitment/Tire Rack Recommendation Question
Gary, I'm currently running the stock 17x7.5, ET45, 5x112 double spoke alloys on my B7 quattro w/ sport package. I'm considering a plus size to an 18" and I like the Borbet Type LS. I would pair it with the Yokohama Avid W4S, size 235/40-18.
On the Tirerack website, the recommended size is 245/40-18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the proper plus size be 235/40-18 (I'm currently running 235/45-17). If I go with wider rubber won't I be increasing the rolling radius and affecting my speedo/odometer? Would TR sell me the package deal with size 235/40-18 mounted and balanced? I understand the 18" is .5" wider, put the recommended rim size on Yoko's website is 8.0-9.5" Am I missing something?

your B7 should clear a 245-40-18 without a problem. The 235 vs 245 are 0.2 - 0.3" overall diameter
difference which really isn't an issue. The width is negligable also. For example the Kumho MX is 0.6" wider at the tread than the GY F1 for the same size.
Personally i run the 245's on my car and they fit great and look great. I like the handling and the ride quality the 245's provide over the 235's. A tad more sidewall goes a long way in ride quality.

Thanks for the reply gary. I was indecisive about the rims but I had to get new rubber. I placed an order for 5 Michelin Exaltos on Sat, 10/27. I put in "Gary from Audiworld" in the referral line so you would get credit for the sale. Thank you again.
