Has anybody driven the Dunlop 3D tires in snow yet?
I am a big believer in snow tires, and have always run a set of dedicated winter tires. WHen I lived in upstate, NY I had a set of studden Nokia (before they changed their name to Nokian) Hakkapelita 10 tires on my Saab. When I moved back to the NYC area I didn't need quite so aggressive winter tires, but I still chose to switch every winter. I've had Pirelli WinterSport 210A on a previous car, and B'stone LM22s on my A4.
I hated the LM22s and couldn't wait to replace them. So last year I bought a set of Dunlop 3Ds. But winter was so mild that I didn't get a chance to drive them in snow or ice.
They are a V-rated tire, and handle beautifully on wet&dry roads. They handle so well, in fact, that I question how effective they would be in the white stuff.
Are they really any better in the snow than an aggressive all-season, such as a BFG Traction TA? (which comes H or V rated)
Reason I ask is that I am getting a new car -- a 2006 A4. Although I can reuse my Ronal winter wheels, the tires are the wrong size for the new car.
Should I get another set of the 3D's? Or should I just run with all-seasons? Or should I get something a bit more aggressive?

the 3D will hands down out perform the TAs!
I've had them both (different quattros), but currently have the 3Ds on a 2005 S4 (in MN), and they are fantastic! don't hesitate on the 3Ds. After the nubs wear off, you also won't believe the dry winter traction.

I'm already impressed with the dry traction.
I'm just leery of how good the winter traction could possibly be in a V-rated tire.
Like I said, I ran them last year, but never saw any snow. So I can't even comment on their snow performance.
