Is "flat spotting" normal on new tires? I have a set of Falken 452's that do that

Default Is "flat spotting" normal on new tires? I have a set of Falken 452's that do that

after sitting for a while... Will this go away with age or is a sign of poor quality? ML

Default It will not go away. Some tires are just more succeptible to flatspotting than others

I hate my Dunlop Maxx tires for this.

How long is "a while"?

Default Thanks for the reply. It is a couple of hours of sitting that will make it noticeable.

If it is overnight is is very annoying... I should have bought the CSC3's that I was looking at, trying to save money costs in the end..

4-5 hours is enough to make them egg-shaped.

I'm planning to get CSC3 next time as well, although I don't know if they'll be any better. I had CSC2 though on my previous car and they did not flatspot.

Default Makes sense they are similar... I read that Falken uses Dunlop's technology.. The

tires are fairly nice otherwise, what a shame..

Default A friend of mine hated his Dunlop SP5000s because they flatspotted too.

They were a very popular performance A/S tire on Audiworld, and I never heard anybody complain about them. But my friend put them on his MB and said that they would flatspot. He likes his new Bridgestones RE940 much better.

Default it may have something to do with a particular steering/suspension setup, too...

Another words, the flatspotting may be felt more on some cars just because the steering or suspension is very communicative and transmits everything to the steering wheel. Apparently this is a big problem on the e39 and quite a few tires behave this way when mounted on it.
