Have an '08 B7 S4 incoming ....Gary at Tire Rack need some input here!

live just north of Philly, and decided I want to just ditch the summer tires in favor of the best all seasons I can find, rather than buying wheels and tires and switching them each season (storage issues, etc.). The car comes with 235/40/18's - the only A/S I see listed on Tire Rack are either Pirelli P6's (which are just OK - had them on my wife's A6 Avant), or P-Zero Nero's which seem a bit better suited to a sports sedan. Are there others I should look at - brands and/or sizes? I do see Goodyear Eagle F1 in 235/40/ZR18's listed, which have been postively reviewed, also looking at Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but they're costly. I thought seriously about new wheels and snow tires, but would rather just do a compromise and go with the best A/S's I can find. Appreciate the suggestions!

I'm not Gary, but I recommend not compromising. :-)

Why cripple a performance oriented car with sub par grip in all conditions?

Yeah, I know ...

but the way I'll use the car, I'm really using it only for a commuter. I have an '04 C4S Porsche that has PS2's and is a car that is driven harder. So, for convenience, I'm looking to buy the best A/S's I can find that don't subtract too much - but I hear you.

if i were in your shoes i would give some serious consideration to the new GY F1-AS.

After speaking with Gary today, I think that's the route I'm going.

The Eagle F1 A/S have gotten excellent reviews on their site, and from Audi owners on this site, and are priced right. I'll be looking to sell the OEM summer tires that the car comes through with - I'll post that on this forum and in the Classifieds.

I do not have them on my car, but i did have the opportunity to drive them about 2 weeks ago

on another B6 A4 for about 50 miles. They were on a set of 17's so more sidewall them the 18's on your car or mine. They rode very well. Very quiet and the sidewall response was better than i expected. Some UHP A/S's have a very soft sidewall and you feel it flex, well these didn't. I was not able to really push them super hard as it was not my car, but the little i did push them 6/10ths they felt really good. I am seriously considering them for my car for the April-October tire. I still will run a 'q' rated snow tire in the winter and will keep a set of track tires. But this GY F1-AS seems like it will be a great all around tire. Hope this helps.
