Default Jprice or Gary or anyone I need help with an offset wheel spacer issue

I picked up some 16"x6.5 5x112 steel winter rims for my 2003 Audi A6 2.7T(non hp2 caliper)they have a 50mm offset. Currently I run a 17"x7.5 5x112 rim with a 45mm offset. I went to test fit the new steel rims upon arrival and they are just scraping the calipers slightly. Is this a case of picking up some 5mm wheel spacers and being all set. Or will these rims just not work with my car. Thanks for any help

Default If it's barely touching, you might be able to get by with two 5mm spacers. However...

I'm unfamiliar with the design of the calipers on the non-HP2 A6s. Is it a fixed caliper, or does the caliper expand in width when new pads are put in, similar to the HP2s? If it isn't a fixed caliper, then there may be more issues when you put in new brakes pads. If it's fixed, then no worries.

You may want to count how many threads you get into the hub with the spacers. If it's not enough, you'll need to get longer lug bolts. Many people run 5mm spacers with normal length bolts though.

Default Thanks Jprice here is some info I have for you

I cant tell you whether I have fixed or non fixed calipers but I do know they are the ATE calipers which you can find a picture of in my picture viewer. The good thing with this situation is that I just put new brake pads in a month ago. So the caliper if it is not fixed is as far out as its going to get. I am going to try some 5mm spacers. You have been a great deal of help!

One more quick question when using spacers even though I can get by not using spacers in the rear do I need to get four of them so I have spacers on all four of the wheels to create equality throughout the car?

Default With 5mm spacers, you won't need to run 4 of them, just 1 on each front.

Some people choose to run spacers on all 4 corners for looks.

If it's really just barely touching the caliper with the mounting face of the wheel all the way against the hub, you might be able to get by with 2mm or 3mm spacers too.
