what is a good set of track tires for an RS4

Depends on your level of experience, how often you plan to track, and whether you want to

be able to use those tires on the street.

Not to mention, the organization you are tracking with might have some restrictions on certain types of tires.

Not very experienced, but need a dedicated set of track rubber, becuase im

the stockers wont last very much longer being used on the track and street.
Orginazation has no restrictions.

Couple options depending on what you're looking for...

Bridgestone RE-01R - sticky street tire
Falken RT615 - sticky tire often used for autocross and some track duty. Street legal. On extended road course lapping sessions, these may get greasy.

DOT R compounds - there are a few that come to mind. Toyo RA1's (replaced by the R888 now), Nitto NT-01, and a bunch of others. These are very sticky, still carry a DOT rating so they can be used on the street, however they will wear fast, so it's not recommended. Breakaway is not as progressive as the previous tires. These tires may mask driving deficiencies making it harder to learn to manage your inputs. Some tires are not suitable for rain use, do your homework to see what people's feedback indicates.

R compounds - similar to the above, but more sticky and faster wear. Perhaps less progressive breakaway. Probably not suitable for rain unless otherwise stated. Hoosiers will typically fall into this category. Unless you're racing, experienced, and have loads of cash, you'll probably not go down to this level.

Thanks for your input. It has taken me about 3 weeks to get any information

regarding this. Im thinking a set of the Bridgestone are in order.
Now, to find a wheel that will fit over the brakes, and also possibly perform duties as a winter wheel

if you want to stick with a solid street tire for some track days, i would also look at the khumo mx

i am using those as my track tire & daily driver tire and work quite well. they are also quite popular with alot of the bmw guys from the cost vs performance perspective. at the last track day i was at 2 weeks ago there were several us using the MX. it is predictable, and breaks away smooth. personally i feel it is very progressive. didn't get greasy in the 20-25 min run times and did not chunk apart like some of the other tires i have seen.

another option is the hankook rs2. these have gained alot of popularity too, although i do not have any personal experience.
