Default Yokohama Adven Sports.....experiences? Here's mine....

It turns out that the Adven Sport in a 255/30/19 is to wide for my fender. I used to run Toyo Proxes TR (255/30/19), and they fit fine. Turns out the tread width on the Toyo is 10" and on the Yokohama it is 10.2". Now I have rubbing issues and am barking up the Wheel Works tree for:

A: installing a tire and not looking at it for any fitment issues (they are pros doing this sort of thing all day).

B: not knowing that Yokohama Adven Sports are WIDER.

C: Yokohama selling something that isn't what it says it is.

Am I off here? Does Wheel Works need to be held liable and replace the tires with the right size? After talking to STaSIS, they said that in the Adven Sport, you have to run a 235/30/19 because they run wide. Insane.

Default Here's what I've found on Yoko, particularly the Advan Neova. I was shopping..

tires for street/track capability...the Neova being the 'best' rated for 2 years. Using the oe size, 235/40-18 the Neova tread width is typically .5" to 1" wider than the same size in other brands, including its own ADVAN Sport.
Bottom line...all tread widths are not created equal and maybe more research needed to be done. Before I purchased the Dunlop Z1's, I pretty much had all the specs for the candidate tires in my head. ALso the 1010tires.com wheel offset calculator is an invaluable aid here too. Sorry, not what you wanted to hear I'm sure.

Default yeah, I think OP can rule #3 out for sure. and if that tire size you were replacing wasn't OEM-spec

to begin with, not sure how much you can pin blame on the shop. what was OEM tire size?

Default OEM was 225/40/18

But as it turns out, the shop is going to waranty out the yokohama adven sport 255/30/19 and replace them with 235's. In the meantime, I have basically sliced through the outter tread block on the drivers side from rubbing.

Wheel works said there was only a .2" difference between the toyos and the yokohama's. I laughed... it sticks out by at least a half inch (over the rim).

Wheel works said they contacted yokohama (not sure as to the validity of this) and they are practicing diligent customer service.

iirc the oe size (b6/b7 S4) is 235/40-18 and not 225/40.
