Noob Tire Question 3
I have Nexen N3000 235/45ZR17 94W tires (suummer tires). At the suggestion of some in this forum, I got 215/55R16 SP Winter Sport M3s and wheels.
I live in the Washington DC area. About what date, or about what temperature (high or low)should I make the switch?
As an aside, I purchased them from Tirerack yesterday morning and they were deliverd today - amazing.

When the low temps are dipping down to near freezing, it's time to switch.
Here in MN, it ends up being 1st or 2nd week of November usually.. But some years earlier, some years later. I keep a close eye on the forecast and play it safer than sorrier.

When average temps are at or below 40F, time to transition. In the DC area..
you all have a small window for these temps..maybe mid-Dec thru mid-Feb. I use 40 as a reference because of the summer compounds not liking anything below 40F.
A more important consideration...recent Winters, Dec thru late Jan are the harshest for the "white stuff" in the mid-Atlantic region.
