quattro and winter tires vs. quattro and all season tires
I just picked up a 2004 A4 1.8t quattro. My first quattro so I have no winter experience driving it. Right now I have Hankook Ventus V4es 235/40-18. They're all-seasons.
So I'm asking all you quattro drivers out there: What's your experience with all-season's vs. winter tires in the snow? I live in Ontario, and go snowboarding a lot in our snowbelt so roads are white for most of the winter. I also do the odd roadtrip to Tremblent near the end of the season. Should I invest in snow tires or does the quattro with all-season's do an adequate job of getting you through the winter?
Thanks for all your help
And thanks to Gary for helping me with ordering the wheels I'll be using for the winter tires. (I'll be placing the order today.)

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
I run A/S tires on my Audi in the winter and my wife runs winter tires on hers. We live in SE MI across the border from southern Ontario.
My thinking is that there are only a few days a year that the roads are snow covered. I drive more carefull then and have the handling benefit of a high performance A/S tire for when the roads are dry or just wet, which is the vast majority of the time.
My wife likes the security of the snow tires when the roads get bad and her car is an absolute tank when the roads are snow covered. She's willing to give up the handling of a good high performance A/S tire for the grip in the snow.
It all depends on how much snow you get and if you value dry/wet grip or snow grip more.
