Default What's the consensus on wheel size these days?

New car will have 18" w/all season. Want to swap to dedicated winter/summers. A couple of options:

1) buy 18" winter tires, try to sell the lightly used Pirelli P6 all seasons, and buy 19" RS4 reps for summer use?, or

2) buy 17" winter wheels & tires, use the P6's for summer use until they are worn and then buy new UHP summer tires?

Do people still have issues with 19" wheels from a durability perspective? I would assume not know that they OEM's spec them from the factory.

Keep stock and run winter tires on those and then get 19" for summer tires/use.

We haven't had any major issues with our 19" wheels, as far as quality/durability goes. We've actually used these wheels on our own cars at the track, and they have held up just fine.

Let me know if you have any fitment/questions about the RS4 reps.

Default 3) ...

17" for winter with narrowest size you can safely get on them. Better in snow, and cheaper to boot than 18s

Keep 18" for summer, but don't bother running the all seasons. Dismount the all seasons and sell them to get some decent summer tires on there.

Default Whatever you do, go with lightweight for improved ride, handling and acceleration

Default No idea of your climate or driving style.. but.. I prefer 18"s.....

My allroad came with 17"s, looked like a soccer mom wagon & cornered like a yacht. Spent 18 months on Yoko Advan S.4. 255/40/19"s, looked waay better, handled waaay better but rode harshly. Switched to 245/45/18" Bridgestone RE960 Pole Position's. Still looks good, rides really well, much less road noise & handles extremely well. Waiting for snow to measure their overall worth. I believe you get what you pay for with tires, do not be cheap.

Default If you search for the right few 16s, they fit over all C5 brakes. I have them on an S6.

My wheels are Ronal R38 (28?) 7.5 x 16 x -35mm

The factory 16" snow wheels work of course.

TR sells a cheap At italia 16 x 7 that fits. Very soft. I bent 4 or 5.
