Can I run 205/55/R16's on my 2.7T rims?

I'm running on a set of 215/55/R16's right now on my 1998 A6 2.8 Quattro. The 5 spoke rims that I'm using came off my brother in law's 2002 2.7T and still has the Conti's on them but they're hard and worn now. I recently put in a set of H&R coilovers and am going to do an alignment now to square things away. Since there's this element of uncertainty I'm thinking of having a set of sacraficial tires this first go around so that I can square away any alignment issues without wasting a ton on new tires.

I've got a set of new (less than 3k miles) Goodyear Assurance 205/55/16 tires on my old wineglass rims that I want to remount onto the 5 spokes but I noted the slightly narrower tread width.

My question is, will these tires be okay or should I just get a new set for the 5 spokes? I'd prefer not to go back to the wineglass ones for now.

Ok thanks, I note that the 215's on them now are wide enough that I'm not in much danger of...

Hitting the rims first when gently rubbing against curbs. This will change a little with the narrower tires but I doubt by so much that the tires will look stretched over the rim. The 5 spokes I have a prestine with no curb rash at all so I'm not worried.

I just wasn't sure if the rims were significantly different as far as width goes and wanted to be sure.
