Default Gary: question about TR test results...

I'm looking at these two UHP all-season tire tests, both done on E90 328i; one in August, one in May.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=115

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=106

The August one shows:

And May one shows:

Why such significant difference in wet stopping distance for RE960 between the two tests (104.9 ft vs 92.4 ft)? The only variable that may not have been kept constant is ambient temperature.... but there surely must be something else at play?

Also a very big difference in Average Cornering (g-Force) in the wet (0.79 vs 0.88).

Brake pad wear/type, amount of water on the track (pouring rain is more effective or high humidity is more effective than just our sprinkler system alone on a dry day), and yes, ambient temps.

Default I did not look at the results closely but was the comparison between tires brands

the same results? I would think that would be the real test results to compare.

Default Well, OK, but wouldn't those variables similarly affect all the tires?

Yet the two tests show that:

1) RE960 has gotten significantly worse results from May to August

while

2) GY F1 A/S has actually improved its wet stopping performance (from 100.4ft in May to 96.6ft in August)

Sorry, maybe I'm just nitpicking.

Similarly, but not the same exactly. Keep in mind that these tires, while in same catagory do come from different manufacturers with different compounds, tread patterns, etc that could react differently to changes in conditions.

No apologies needed for nitpicking
