Herr Sets Pole at the Grand Prix of Mosport
Wild Qualifying Ends With #17 STaSIS/Clear Capital/
Agincourt Autohaus Audi A4 on Top

Bowmanville, Ontario (September 2, 2006) STaSIS Motorsports and Chip Herr overcame changing conditions during the qualifying session to set the pole. Five minutes into the 20-minute session with a damp track Herr was fastest with a lap time of 1:35.354. With Herr in the pits a dry line developed on the track and the pole time was lowered by several seconds pushing him back to 15th position. In the closing minutes of the session Herr was able to get back on track and set the second pole of his career in a time of 1:31.143.

It was a real team effort getting Herr to the pole.

Agincourt Autohaus first worked with STaSIS on the Audi A4 Ultrasport built for SPEED's Sports Car Revolution program in 2005. As Toronto's premier Audi dealership and service center they are often chosen for their expertise in specialty projects, and have a rich history in competition.

An industry veteran with 20 years of personal Mosport racing experience Agincourt Autohaus Technical Director Rolf Von Engelbrechten commented, "The level technical advancement in World Challenge is astounding, putting the Agincourt Audi A4 in the front of such a competitive pack was an exciting feat, and a great representation of Audi and our people."

Herr's teammates "Fast" Freddy Baker in the #18 STaSIS Fred Baker Audi A4 and Piloti SPEED Touring Car Rookie of the Year points leader Jeff Courtney in his #99 STaSIS Kenda/MPI Coin/Karavan Trailer Audi A4 qualified 14th and 16th, respectively. Baker showed his experience in his ability to keep it smooth in demanding conditions holding 5th position until the last few minutes of the session and finishing only 1.451 seconds off the pole. Courtney looks to increase his lead in the rookie of the year standings in Sunday's race.

STaSIS Motorsports president Paul Lambert was understandably pleased, "We took this one with good strategy in changing conditions, enabled by Chip's ability to put it together the instant the timing was right."

I just hope they don't start sticking him with that "rewards" weight B.S. I'll bet your wondering how different things would be if you had the factory support you deserve.

 

Too bad that it was a rolling start because of the off of one of the cars during the formation lap, otherwise, great race.
