what in-car lap timers do people recommend besides the Hot Lap products?

I just got a DL1. Great device, but not really a lap timer...
The DL1 is a data logger which uses both GPS and two accelerometers to record your position, velocity, G-forces and other optional data inputs onto a CompactFlash card. It sells for about $800 and requires an additional display at $650 or $950 to display any information in real time.
Here are two popular alternatives to the traditional Hot Lap lap timer:
AIM Mychron timer

I use my DL1 together with an AMB transponder and a Hot Lap timer, all for different purposes. If I were buying a lap timer now, I would probably buy the Ultra-Lap.

if you want to spend a "little" more money...
..check out some of the basic GPS based data acq. systems like traqmate, g2x, etc, etc...they seem to be pretty good entry level/basic data acq systems that have "built in lap timers...and no need to setup a beacon (which can be helpful at DE's)...
if you want a basic timer other, the poster below listed a few good choices...
i used to use a hot lap before i went to my stack data acq setup and it worked fine...one bonus of the hot lap is that there is almost always someone else there with a hot lap beacon so you rarely have to setup your own beacon...

AIM Mycron is a decent unit and they have a backlit version...
