Hitting X-109 on I-95 just N of Savannah around 1200-1230 Thursday. We'll be staying at the Flagler Plaza Holiday Inn in Palm Coast, just N of Daytona. I'll be travelling w/ 'Jerry Garcia', owner of a 911S, Dino, 300 Sportline, and an S4 (Audi content!). We're meeting Bier Burner at the exit, and will make the run tomorrow afternoon. Hope we see some of you there.

Yes, the car came out pretty nice. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to see it in person, you would definitely appreciate it. And yes, I'm still in NY... I plan on being at a few ALMS/WC races this year so we'll have to coordinate our schedules so we can catch up and have a beer. I actually need to talk to you about some other *stuff*... what's a good e-mail for you? Can you toss one to plindsey@nextlevel.com?

Instead of just staying wide and rejoining at the next pack or staying on the hooks and turning the car into a hockey puck, he regained moderate control and fought it back onto the track.

In the process, he lost conrol and shot laterally across the track directly in the path of a GXP on Ian's right and Ian, who were door to door.

Ian's view was totally blocked by the GXP and all of a sudden the GXP driver hits the hooks hard and Price's Farnbacher Lole's car comes flying across from drivers right, appearing in front of Ian about 3 ft off the bumper at about 100mph.

Nothing Ian could do, period. He was hot, and he's normally composed.

Compounding the matter, Shawn Price came over to Ian in the pits (both cars headed in for repairs) and lied to Ian saying "Dude, I was hit in the drivers left rear and spun in front of you."

Never a good thing when there's VERY strong video evidence from many angles showing he was never touched in the DLR, let alone even a touch mark in the dust of the DRL of the car.

Really bad.

Two radiators, one oil cooler, a fender, two headlights, a bumper cover, radiator fittings and a suspension arm later, and Ian was back on track, running 1:54's.

Sad weekend.

As for Randy, the RX8's simply didn't have enough top speed to keep with the 911's. The 12 997 GA spec cars had improved fuel economy this year as well, so the Mazda's were just plain outgunned.

Randy said the car was just great, though, and ran absolutely trouble free.

One position away from a podium, but a job well done. Randy made up much time in the rain.

As for pics, I was doing agent stuff all weekend for my clients. I only shot for about 20 minutes at about 11pm on Sat. Leslie shot much more, but not the full race.
