Wasn't there a way to have some diagnostic info displayed through the climate control..

yea press and hold the recirculate button and then press the up arrow and release both a 1c should appear use the temp. +- buttons to change channels and the recirculate button again to select

Yeah, here's the FAQ/TECH article - I think there are minor flaws in it
