Couldn't get my wheels off.

I was taking off my summer wheels/tires and found that once I removed the 5 bolts, I couldn't pull off the tire. After a lot of two-person tugging (and almost knocking the car off of the jack) I got them off. This only happened with two of the four wheels. Has this ever happened to anyone? Any way to prevent it?

I worked at NTB, this would happen all the time......

the only thing you can really do to prevent this is to take your wheels off regularly,(you should rotate them anyway) and make sure the contact points are clean. I also helps out to use some lube on your lugbolts, because they tend to rust and become hard to rip out, and easy to cross thread! Hope this helps! Oh yeah, usually, you just need to whack it with a sledgehammer, or give it a very swift kick to one of the outside edges, (if that doesnt work, go around the outside of the tire)

I would be careful of the sledgehammer. A rubber mallet would be safer and less costly if you miss.

AH gently!

Just loosen the lug nuts enough to spin ~5 turns.Then let the car roll a bit (10ft)and hit the brakes. Do it once or twice and this will break the rust/corrosion loose and free up the wheel. I used to kick and hit the wheels and curse alot before I figured this out. Much safer and a whole lot easier on the wheels.
