what do you guys use to wash your car...ie. towel or brush and what's your process?

Default Too darn cold here now. Touchless do it yourself spray wash!
When it's warm or even bearable, I use a sponge in soapy solution to wash which I keep very clean by thorough clean water rinsing and a chamois to dry. So far, no scratches.

Default Always warm in California :P
I use a big soft sponge, and dry it with "The Absorber" (shammy) and diapers, diapers ROCK.

Default 2-3 Wash mitts, car soap, water blade, 2 chamois
I wash one section of the car at a time, working from the top to the bottom. (i.e. roof and windows, then hood and front, then sides, then the rear). Always rinse out the mitt/sponge regularly to clean off grit and dirt. I use a separate wash mitt for the wheels and sometimes a third mitt for the really dirty areas like the rocker panels. Then I use the California Water Blade to get most of the water off the car and then go over the rest with a chamois. Of course, this is during the warmer months in Ottawa. I can usually give my car a good wash in less then 20 mins.

Default Just finished washing, see above also...
Lessee, 1) water rinse, 2) a mother's wash concentrate in warm water with was mitt (it's only 45deg today), 3) rinse, 4) chamois dry, 5) a little clay bar in a couple of spots, 6) some Back to Black on the trim, 7) Vinylex on the interior, 8) Rain-ex on the windshield.

It made the pain bearable (see above)

Default spray it with carwash shampoo solution/wheel cleaner while in line, the blast it touchless style
this is just my "quickie"
on pre audi club meet days, thats a whole new song and dance for everyone
