  • Sales chief Luca de Meo: “Sales rose in October in all regions around the world”
  • Strong growth for compact models A3 and Q3

Ingolstadt – AUDI AG kicked off the final quarter of the year with continued sales growth. In October, around 131,950 customers chose an Audi, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent. This means that deliveries for the premium manufacturer have increased by 7.5 percent to around 1,312,700 since January. Last month, sales for Audi rose by 14.4 percent in the Asia-Pacific region and by 9.6 percent in North America. The brand with the four rings grew in Europe, too: up 1.3 percent.

“With very positive development in the UK, the United States and China, we increased our sales in all regions around the world in October. In doing so, we are continuing our global growth pattern,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. “The successful launch of the A3 Sedan in its first markets has also contributed to this result.”

The latest Audi model in the compact segment reached European dealerships for the first time in the second half of September. In October, Audi delivered around 18,800 cars of the entire A3 family, 33.2 percent more than one year before. Sales of the Q3 SUV climbed by 49.9 percent to around 12,950 units worldwide.

The popular new compact models also strengthened business for Audi in the European export markets last month. The brand with the four rings posted an increase of 3.9 percent to around 39,000 deliveries in those markets. In Germany however, sales declined by 2.8 percent to 22,801 cars sold. Among Audi’s largest European sales markets, Russia (+5.7 percent to 3,115 cars) and primarily the UK reported strong growth in October: 10,417 cars delivered to British customers equates to an increase of 14.4 percent. Audi was also able to exceed last year’s delivery performance in Italy – up 2.9 percent to 4,015 cars. Across all European markets, Audi completed the month of October with a 1.3 percent increase to around 61,800 units.

In the United States, demand for Audi models increased by 11.0 percent to 13,001 cars delivered. The cumulative sales figure of 127,412 units since the beginning of the year is 13.4 percent higher than prior-year figure. The full-size A6, A7, A8 and Q7 models continue to be particularly popular on the U.S. market and are posting disproportionate growth there. Later this month, the high-performance RS 7 Sportback model will supplement the range of full-size models offered by Audi of America.

In October, 41,117 Chinese customers received the keys to their new Audi. Deliveries thus exceeded the very strong prior-year month by a further 14.5 percent – driven by the locally manufactured Q3, which has been available since April. The Audi sales statistics show 399,330 cars sold in China from January to October, an increase of 19.9 percent.

Last month, Audi was once again able to increase sales significantly in other important growth markets, such as India (+17.9 percent to 1,002 cars), Mexico (+10.7 percent to 903 cars) and South Korea (+35.8 percent to 1,853 cars).
