Timing Belt
Hi all,
I bought used 2008 A3 with FSI engine and I am not sure of how old timing belt is. I would assume around 40k-50k miles.
I would like opinion. I am pretty sure it is changes bc it would be hard to believe that belt lasted 117k miles and that dayco is OE timing belt for audi
At least I know it had been changed bc I was worried.
Here are pics, I know it is hard to tell just by looking at pics but please share your opinion. Valve cover bolt were pretty loose IMO, back side was leaking and I had plenty of spins to tight them up????

You can't tell its condition tell by looking at it. The belt might be a replacement but if the tensioner and water pump weren't replaced you're still at risk of engine failure. For peace of mind you should replace the timing belt and associated components. That's what I did when I bought my car. I didn't trust the previous owner's maintenance enough to bet my engine on it.
