Engine Swap from Automatic into Manual Car
I'm looking for some advice. I have a 2001.5 S4 that needs a new engine. I found one at a wrecking yard but it is from an automatic and my car is a manual. Any advice on the differences between the two setups would be helpful. Pictures would be a GREAT help as well.
Thanks,
Travis

I am swapping a 2.7T APB engine from a 2001 Allroad w/auto into a my 2000 S4 w/manual. Any issues other the SAI? Are ECU compatible?

Mechanic is still working on it. He's giving me a buddy price for the labor but that means he can't afford to work on the car full time. I'll post back here when the swap is complete to tell everyone how it went.

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same question. I have an 01 manual Allroad and I am in the market for an engine. Engines out of Automatics are everywhere and I suspect have seen less abuse. Engines out of Manuals are nonexistent. If it is just a matter of blocking off the supplemental air injection I will just get an automatic motor.
Has anyone here done this?
Thanks

I sold the car and engine. They were able to successfully get it swapped and running. It did need the blanking plate and a different / new "spider hose" or something like that. The new owner is very happy with his new toy!
