A bit more information might be useful!
AFAIK flashing brake lights is not a normal feature of a B5!
Scanning the car might reveal something, but otherwise look to brake light switch (pressure switch on master cylinder), brake light relay, or the individual wiring to the light in question if it's only a single light.

I had 2 problems with my 98 2.8quattro, fried computer that needed fixing and the low brake fluid. Not sure if the bad abs ecu had something to do with it, I fixed both. Check for codes to verify ecu communication and top off brake fluid.

My mechanic couldn't find anything wrong except that someone had unplugged the ABS for some reason. I have only had this car for a month and I'm about to put it on the market. The brakes work fine and I did reset the CEL and the CEL ins't on. The fluid isn't low
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the brake light to stop blinking.

Is the yellow ABS light on solid and the red brake light blinking? Has anyone tried to communicate with it using a scan tool, remember, you must actually use a scan tool able to acess other modules? A cheap generic scan tool is not gonna cut it. If no communication can be had and the warning lights are on. That would be the ABS computer is bad, and need rebuild by Module Masters.
The reason it was probably unplugged is sometimes they can cause abnormal symptoms. Send the module off the be rebuilt, and the lights might be gone. In my case, since my abs module had been bad for so long, a wheel speed sensor and the teeth on one axle were bad and caused its own series of problems. So having the module rebuilt is step one to getting the ABS functioning.

I don't have the proper scan tool and I'm not about to get one. I'll be selling the car soon. But, yes, Prospeeder, the yellow ABS light is on solid and the red brake light is blinking.
