A4 B5 2.6 ABC - A/C fan not working
My secondary electric fan won't turn on with the A/C button and also won't kick in when the coolant temperature is getting high.
I've wired the fan directly to the battery and it spins so I know the motor is fine. I suspect there is a dud sensor or two but don't know which ones and where they may be located.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Most everything on here is for the US and few if any of us have a 2.6 motor. I suspect your motor has a lot in common with our 2.8 I suggest you do a few searches on this forum. There are many threads about this issue. There is a control module that is often the culprit.

hi, Did you fix your problem?
I have the same problem with my b5 too. Whenever I turned on the a/c the fan won't turn on. What I experienced when A/C is on is my coolant temp is on 90c and my coolant reservoir is overflowing. It doesn't happen when my A/C is off.

I located the 3 pin thermoswitch on the side of the radiator (F18/F54 for reference). Bridging the connector directly with a bit of wire starts the fan (low and high speed). So I suspect a faulty sensor.

when i purchased my 98 a4 b5 2.8. the fan mega fuse under dash with all the relays, was blown. replaced and fan worked, didnt think any more. fast forward month ahead. ac stops cooling when at traffic stop. car overheats in traffic jams. oil sensor warning light and bell goes off.
back under dash the fuse is blown again, replace, fan works... this time i watch it. fuse blows after a few minutes.. tho fan still worked, it was worn and cause too much load draw to make it spin right and would blow the fuse. I hit ebay, found a perfect match for $32. 10 year warranty. installed it. new fuse. car now runs better than ever, ac always ice cold. oil temp lower, tranny temp lower. no more blown fuses.
food for thought
