Default Cigarette lighter stuck on 99.5 ..... Does dealer-fix scratch or damage the center console ?

I imagine they poke a wire or something into the "pop-up" mechanism, in order to release it. If they're not careful, they could scratch the area surrounding the lighter.
If that's the case, then I'll probably just leave the lighter in there (non-smoker). However I'd then need to hardwire my Valentine .....
99.5 2.8QT
My dealer scratched the socket area some, but with the lighter in the closed position, it looks perfect

Default Thanks for that heads-up ..... Did yours jam because the "lit" lighter popped out whilst in the close position ? I don't know why mine jammed.

That's my dealer's theory. It happened after my wife drove it, so that's highly likely. I keep the plug in the glove box now

Default That's a great idea .... Fellow 99.5 drivers take note .... You'd think the Audi engineers could have caught that one (nt).
