Did I make a mistake buying this car?1998 audi a4 2.8 Quattro
I bought a 1998 Audi a4 Quattro 2.8 the other day for $1k (has 200k but overall looks, and drives good). A couple days after buying it the check engine light comes on, and I bring to emissions who tells me it is ready to be tested, but with the P0455 emissions code EVAP Large Leak it isn't going to pass. Also brought it to an Audi mechanic who gave me a few other codes, see here, Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
Could this be an easy fix to pass emissions? I am not expecting the car to last me that long given the mileage and age.. Hell, i'd be happy if its drive-able for 6months to a year. The thing is, it has to pass emissions. I'm trying to do the bare minimum.
Any advice or opinions are appreciated. With the codes from the mechanic I guess it must be a bigger issue than the gas cap? Do you think I should just try to get rid of the car as quickly as possible?
-Thanks

Lemons, this is why a cheap Audi might be the most expensive car you ever own! The inability to pass state emissions takes a lot of older cars off the road. I'm well aware of that.
I had that code on a MBz. It was either the evaporative canister or the valve. It's sort of a common failure on older cars, regardless of marque.
I can't see your codes, but you might be able to get the needed component(s) from the local junk yard for very little $$$... assuming you want to fool around with it.

I can't say that I've seen one but maybe someone else can will pop in and offer some guidance on it.
