How much to replace timing belt and water pump in an audi a4 2001?

Which engine? V6 might run about 1000 and the 1.8T is like 800. Thats all the timing belt components, waterpump, coolant, drive belts. And the 5.9 hours labor it bills.

With a new water pump it's not unusual for the old thermostat to fail not too long after the work has been done. Seen this several times.

A thermostat is under $20.

On the V6, with the motor taken apart for the timing belt service it's 20 minutes work to replace it but it's 3- 4 hours tear down if you do it separately.
