Loose drivetrain

Loose drivetrain
Hi all, thank you for welcoming me to the forum! I have a question about the drivetrain of my car feeling "loose". It's a 2000 A4 Quattro, 2.8, with 230000k.
It's in reasonably good shape but the drivetrain feels kinda sloppy, like theres some play in it when I stop and go.
I'm taking it in for new shocks and would like to know what others suggest to solve this problem?
I'm thinking of the Universal joint and hangar bearing, and maybe cv joints?
Any suggestions will be gladly considered!
Maybe now is the time to lower it (putting new shocks on)?
Thanks guys!

If your engine mounts and snub mount are still OE, you might consider replacing them to tighten up the engine/tranny connection. Helped on my 2.8 B5. You can determine if the engine mounts are due by inspecting them. They contain a purple viscous substance that tends to leak out. Once leaked out, the mounts are less effective. Look for the purple stains. The front sub mount will dry up and get brittle over time.
If the CV joints in the half shafts are heading south, you will probably hear some clicking or clunking when launching.
If you are just experiencing the jerkiness in first gear when on/off the throttle, one solution is to just depress the clutch when off the gas rather than use engine braking. That's what I do. If you have the Tip tranny, not so sure.
