Over boosting, a waste gate problem or the whole turbo? just wondering because my car has only just started over boosting with 98k miles on the clock.

Usually that is from either the N75 boost control solenoid, located in the tube coming from the airbox to the turbo inlet. If it is bad, you get overboost, it has 2 lines attached to it. On goes to the turbo, the other goes to the wastegate. If either of those 2 hoses are damaged, or disconnected, it will overboost. It is possible for the wastegate diaphragm to fail also and cause overboost.
