Speedo/Cruise Jerking while holding a speed
I have a new to me 2001 A4 1.8l 5 speed. The car has 168k miles and the instrument cluster was recently fixed by Module Masters in Idaho. I have put about 500 miles on this car since I got it running(bad tensioner). If you are holding a speed say 55mph. The needle will jump about 5mph every once in awhile. It always seems to jump up not down. Say every couple miles. The car doesnt change speed nor does the RPM. Just the MPH needle jerks. When the cruise is set the needle will jump and make the car jerk slightly. It seems to do it more on cruise than holding a speed with your foot. I have googled and searched the forum to find no fix. It's only noticeble when holding a speed. If your pulling a hill or speeding up, it doesnt do it. I have done the throttle relearn, but not sure if it took. It has brand new NGK laser plugs. It does have a P0420 code. But that should have nothing to do with the cruise or holding a speed. The tires are all air up. The brakes are new.

Both the cruise and the speedo use the same sensor, so it stands to reason the problem would be in that area. IIRC it is located on the transmission right next to where the axle is connected on the left side. It is kind of a dirty area, so it might just be a dirty connection.
