Did you ever find a VAG tool to borrow in the Burlington, VT, area? I know this is an old post but wondering if anyone has one I can use to reset the airbag light on my 1999 Audi A4 Avant Quattro 2.8L - I've done the airbag connector repair (code was 01218) and now need to clear the warning light from instrument cluster.
thx -

Throw a twenty dollar bill at me for the service and I'll be happy. You just have to meet me at my place of business on Allen road. When is the best time for you?

Remove airbag connector then clear code 01218
Thanks for the positive feedback - I agree - great to have a forum that produces local, real-world results! Live2Tune was able to clear the code for me after I did the fix shown here:
DIY: B6/B7 Airbag light (Audi TSB)
Difference for my 1999 Avant A4 Quattro 2.8L was that the connector was on the underside of the passenger seat (Diff code: 01218 passenger-side igniter - intermittent - resistance too high). Also, I just needed to splice the wires together and shrink wrap. No need to add extra wire between the two points. There's plenty of extra wire there (the connector wire is kind of bundled and loosely kept in a wire tie of sorts - just pull a couple more lengths out - enough to enable seat to slide back and forth).
Thanks for everyone's help getting my inspection sticker! The YELLOW connector shown below here is the faulty airbag connector that i took out of the circuit.
