how do you disassemble inner cv joint?
I have come to a halt with a repair and needed some help. I've done a lot of searches on the topic with no answers so far. I have a 2004 3.0 A4 that I started replacing all the control arms on and I realized my inner cv boot was torn so I gotta fix that too...yeahhh. I have removed the axle but can't get into the inner joint to see what's going on. I'd like to repack, throw a new boot on, and stick it back in but if it's really damaged then I guess I'll do the raxles trade in. Any help getting it apart would be great. In one of the pics I pointed out where I suspect the part splits and I thought about smacking it with a hammer but didn't want to damage the part. Thanks.

Thanks Bishilvr. I was able to get the cap to the left of the arrow to pop off pretty easily. Then I could remove the cir clip and slide the shaft out of the joint. I got my new boot last night and was able to clean everything up and get the axle back together. the joint seems to be moving smoothly so it goes back on the car this weekend.
