Got a FLAT tire due from a street construction. Are they liable?
It's a few blocks from where I live. It's one of those large steel metal sheet on top of the road - probably to cover the fresh cement underneath. My tire approached the edge and it slashed the inside wall. When I got home I can hear and smell the air leaking and I was watching the tire as it was deflating.
1. Can I have the city liable for this? Of course it may be a waste of time and too much hassle. But I would appreciate advise on how to proceed with this.
2. I'm now at 18,000 miles with the OEM tires on the Ultra Sport package - Continental Conti SportContact2 235/40 R18. I've seen reviews where they replaced the tires immediately from fast wear (due to being high performance summer tires, of course) but my tires don't show that it's ready to be replaced via TWI and the penny test. How long do you guys think this tire can still hold up?
I'm going to replace the spare tire with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. Then I plan to replace the rest of the four tires the moment I wear out the Contis.
