Hi, I haven't posted in some time because my car has surprised me with a lengthy stint of reliability lately. However, heavy traffic and lack of hauling space has driven me to switch to an Avant model with Tiptronic. I just have a few simple questions that I didn't find answered to my satisfaction while searching through posts.

1. How reliable is the Tiptronic transmission? I know manuals are simpler by design and are, therefore, more reliable. But I want the automatic. I understand the D2 A8 and the older A6 had common issues with tranny failure and I want to know if the B6 does as well.

2. Are there any rust issues specific to the Avant (i.e. around roof rails)?

3. Will I notice that much of a difference in handling?

4. Any other areas of concern specific to the B6 Avant?

5. I am also considering the SAAB 9-3 Aero V6 Sportcombi so anyone with experience in the newer SAABs (2003+), please chime in on what problems it has. (Please don't comment about SAAB being owned by GM or how the interior quality is subpar compared to Audi; I can take care of squeaks and rattles myself.)
